The biggest drawback of Menelaus is that you're a bit far from the action, but that can also be something of a benefit. The fun comes much quicker than that though, as just allying Ithaca gets you Odysseus' roster without having to deal with their annoying building restrictions. You can potentially get everythíng from Troyan Princes to Spear-Myrmidons in the same army. Instead I think Menelaus is the most fun faction in the game, as they have the potential capacity to recruit every unit in the game on a global basis. So Odysseus has my favorite units, and he's an incredible hero, but is otherwise enough of a drag that the faction can't be the favorite. In return for being restricted you get additional buildings for your major settlements, but that's a bad trade because you'll have so few places you can build them that you won't be able to fit both them and important buildings like shrines.

Safe heavens are also something of a joke, especially when compared with Menelaus Call to Arms. You can't simply stay at the coast, because enemies from inland keep attacking you. However: the lack of buildings in land-locked territory has a habit of sucking up all fun, and because happiness can only come from major settlements you're screwed whenever it's land locked. Warriors of Ithaca and the Ambushers are also really fun units, the ambushers are akin to having recruitable harpies (where harpies are my favorite mythical unit).

In fact your entire army will typically be all vanguard units, and almost everyone gets javelins. Heavy Sword Skirmishers is the best mid-tier infantry I have seen, both for their cost and in what they do, which is vanguard and carry javelins while having good armor and melee stats. Odysseus has the most fun faction unit roster but the worst faction specific mechanics. So yeah, that's my opinion about favorite factions in Total War Troy, how about you guys? What's your favorite factions And the last thing that is great about these two is the fact that both of them are located in the edge of the maps during the campaigns which is great since I could be more easily focusing on one way invasion without worrying too much about the enemies attacks from many sides. Also the faction itself are good in spies and could creating safe haven that make me still can recruit units in enemies territories which is great when I am low in number of troops. For Ithaca, they have a bit similarity with Lycia, but this time, they don't specialize in chariots but more unit rosters that can have some vanguard deployment and great skirmishers both from melee and ranged units that can ambush the enemies quickly and fast moving in the same time.

Lycia has great chariots that could run down some lower units especially ranged units and some low tier melee units during battle that could flank the enemies quite easily, plus with the epic missions that have a lot things to do with trades which is quite peaceful and it is great since I don't really like to warring a lot of factions especially since it could potentially make the other factions declared war at you or ruining some reputations and relation (the could potentially do the same thing : war) which is quite annoying and challenging in the same time. I really like to play as Lycia and Ithaca at the moment since both of them are the expert in mobility and speed. Since Troy has been released in 13th August, I grabbed the game in the Epic Store Games and played it after for so long I dreamed to play another total war game again, and it was so good and running well with my low GPU card in my own laptop.
